Past Events
Food Drive
In November, Community partnered with Little Sweet Peas Vintage as a drop-off location for the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce’s food drive. Community also donated 16 turkeys to families in need for Thanksgiving. Six were distributed by the Northwest Center and ten by U-Turn Covenant Church.
Customer Appreciation
In October, Community hosted its annual fall customer appreciation days. All attendees enjoyed some sweet treats while visiting with familiar bank employees and left with Community branded gifts.
Vintage Car Show
On Saturday, September 27, 2025, Community hosted its second Classic Car Show and Fall Festival with the Portage Park Chamber and the Hermosa Belmont Cragin Chamber of Commerce. “This free, family-friendly event allowed the bank to be a gathering place for the community” said Dane Cleven, president, chairman, and CEO of Community Savings Bank.
Krystyna Wawrzyniak’s 25th Anniversary
The bank celebrated Krystyna Wawrzyniak’s 25th anniversary at the bank on Friday, August 29, 2025. In 2000, she was hired as a teller. Today, Krystyna is an integral part of the bank’s Operations Department.
Shred-a-Thon
Community hosted its Spring Shred-a-Thon on Saturday, May 10, 2025 and its Fall Shred-a-Thon on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Customers and noncustomers came to the bank's parking lot to shred items with personal information to prevent identity theft.

Saturday, April 26, 2025 - English Home Buying Seminar
On Saturday, April 26, 2025 Community hosted its Home Buying Seminar in English, featuring presentations by experts on buying and owning a home. Our featured speakers had experience in budgeting, mortgage lending, real estate sales, and contractual aspects of buying a home. Topics included how to find and buy a home, apply for a mortgage, repair credit, and qualify for special down payment programs.
Tiffany Ocasio’s 25th Anniversary
Tiffany Ocasio’s 25th anniversary of working at Community Savings Bank was February 1, 2025. She is now a member of the large group of employees who have worked at the bank for 25 years or more. The bank celebrated her anniversary on Friday, February 7, with a cake and well wishes from her fellow employees.
Customer Appreciation Days and 80th Anniversary
Community took the opportunity to thank its customers and invited neighbors to stop in to enjoy refreshments, giveaways and an anniversary celebration raffle.
Community Savings Bank is an independent neighborhood financial institution located at Cicero and Belmont avenues in Chicago. When the bank first opened in 1944, it was in a store front just north of Belmont Avenue. It moved to its current location on the corner in 1953. All services continue to be provided from the main office and drive thru.
Community is still locally managed and mutually owned. The bank continues to focus on helping people buy homes and save for the future.
Vintage Car Show
On Saturday, October 12, 2024 Community sponsored the 2024 Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Car Show in our parking lot that included a petting zoo for children.
Fall Shred-a-Thon
On Saturday, September 28, 2024 a mobile industrial shredder was parked at the bank’s main parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.* for personal papers to be shredded. Destruction of old documents is recommended to help prevent identity theft. Customers and members of the community were invited to shred old checks, bank statements and other documents with personal information at no charge.
“We encourage area residents to take advantage of this opportunity to shred documents with confidential information. This event reinforces our commitment to being ‘Your Personal Neighborhood Bank’ and helping prevent identity theft,” said Dane H. Cleven, President and Chairman of Community Savings Bank.
Desiree Reilly's 25th Anniversary
Desiree Reilly celebrated her 25th anniversary at Community Savings Bank on Friday, September 27, 2024. She is now a member of the large group of employees who have worked at the bank for 25 years or more. The day was celebrated with a cake and well wishes from her fellow employees.
Desiree said, “I started here just before my daughter was born. I've grown up here and been through big life changes. I felt supported and cared for and am very grateful that I get to work somewhere like Community. I have made many great friends here.”
“Desiree is a valued Community employee. We appreciate her dedication over the past 25 years” said Dane H. Cleven, president and chairman of the bank.
