Community hosted its first Senior Resource Day on Friday, July 11, 2025. The event featured giveaways and presentations from Oak Street Health, the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, and Community staff.
Oak Street Health presented about its services for seniors and the other groups presented information on scam and fraud prevention. Some important tips speakers noted include:
- Don’t click on links from sources you don’t know.
- “Take it with a grain of salt.” If you receive an urgent request from a number you don’t know, assume it is likely not a real request.
- Investigate before giving away information. Contact the bank or credit card company directly if you receive communication about an issue with your account.
- Hang up. Receive a call you didn’t expect asking you to act urgently? Just hang up.
