Community Participates in City Land Use Study

Community Savings Bank hosted the City of Chicago and other local partners for a meeting about revitalizing the area around Cicero Avenue on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

“The bank was happy to host the City and local partners for this meeting on Thursday,” said Dane Cleven, president, chairman, and CEO of Community Savings Bank. “The bank has a large event space intended to host local events and serve the community.”

This meeting was part of a broader project run by the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development. The land use study will review the current state of Cicero Avenue and give recommendations to improve the area. At the meeting on Thursday, the City of Chicago presented on initial findings from the land use study. The City of Chicago also lead participants in an exercise identifying areas of Cicero Avenue that could improve.

The land use study focuses on revitalizing a 2.75 mile area along Cicero Avenue, spanning from Grand Avenue to Irving Park Road.

Thus far, there have been a few meetings about the land use study. The City, businessowners, local politicians, and residents met a couple times in April and the City of Chicago presented at the Portage Park Farmer’s Market in June.

The next meeting with the City of Chicago on the Cicero Avenue land use study will be planned for a time this fall.
